Being new, I am not familiar with how every other lock is spec'd here in Journey. I was wondering if anyone of us had Malediction (deep Affliction).
I know that initially 3% additional shadow damage might not sound like a lot, but when you are learning new encounters and people get used to becoming a well coordinated raiding group... sometimes that 3% is what the group needs to succeed.
Any thoughts? Someone already have it spec'd?

I don't have any points in it because I don't regularly use CoE or CoS. But the points would be worth it for someone with a different playing style.

This is a excellent raid spec that uses it, in my experience with my warlock malediction is awesome, 3% in raid even a 10 man is huge, in a 25 it just rocks considering the number of locks and mages. For personal dps using shadows will almost always yield more damage on a raid encounter (unless you amp agony and are speced to max its damage) in addition to just benefiting the raid more. The only real time agony should be considered is if their is only one warlock and only one mage, and no shadow priests, cause if there is ever more then 1 of these classes, CoE/CoS is superior for the raids dps as a whole. www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Quel%27dorei&n=Talsha

It's a really tough talent to fit in. Affliction builds really should go far enough into destruction to get destructive reach, as life sucks without the range increase, and more importantly, the threat reduction. Generally, the best way to do this is by giving up points in demo, which can hurt alot if you don't have a ton of stam.
I'm not too concerned about how people are specing. I know some people will want to go SL/SL for pvp, though it's horrendous for pve. An ideal warlock group will have everyone 21/40 demo/destruction with one affliction lock for malediction, but doing something like that really sucks for everything but raiding, so I'm not going to worry too much about it. Just spec whatever you feel like.

My warlock still runs Malediction, mostly because in her former life, she raided a lot with a shadow priest (hi Mel! ). The loss of Destructive Reach does hurt in a heavy Affliction build, but in a 25-man raid, you really should have one Malediction spec'd lock. The raid wide boost to the DPS from your warlocks and spriests (and increased mana regen from those priests) is absolutely worth it.

Well I have heard that Mel has a shad priest that does not suck... needed a fill in for a Bot heroic that I had geddy on with another fire mage, pally tank, and resto shaman. So I ask mel to bring her shadow priest. We were already doing well with a hunter, but when Mel came we tore it up. I have never seen Laj and Warp Splinter go down so fast. So I inspect Mel's shadow priest... and drooled all over the gear. Umm... yea that shadow priest needs to be dusted off and used more often
